Black is the opposite of white and means the student is mature and skilled enough in TaeKwonDo. It also is an indication of being impenetrable for fear and darkness. Their journey is complete.

The Poom belt is awarded to the student that has shown the knowledge and skill to finish their journey to Black Belt. They have sacrificed their time to truly be a master.
